Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jody McDaniel

Hello, and welcome to Vernon Intermediate School! My name is Jody Hankins McDaniel. I teach 6th grade math. I grew up in Vernon and attended school and graduated high school here in 1988 from LCHS. After high school, I attended Mississippi University for Women and earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1992. I then earned a Master’s of Education degree from Auburn University and an Education Specialist Degree from Troy State University while teaching first grade in Russell County, AL. I earned my National Board Certification in 1999 while teaching first grade at Aberdeen Elementary in Aberdeen, MS. Soon after, I moved back home to teach 5th grade at Vernon Elementary in 2000. While here in Vernon, I have also enjoyed teaching 2nd grade, as well as 6th grade.

I am married to Freddy McDaniel, and we have one daughter, Anna Kate. She graduated from LCHS and currently attends Ina E. Gordy Honors College at MUW and plays softball there as well. While teaching is my professional passion, I also love cooking, spending time in our pool at home, watching our daughter play softball, and attending church at Mt. Olive Church of Christ. I am blessed to be able to say that the 2018/2019 school year marks my 25th year of doing what I ALWAYS wanted to do, teach! I strive daily to be a better teacher than I was the day before.
